The making of a highlander by elisa braden (midnight in scotland #1)

This is my first Elisa Braden book. I think I got it for 99 cents on a kindle ebook deal. Anyways, I was in the mood to read a Scottish historical romance so I decided to give this one a shot.

What I liked:

  • I liked that the heroine was Scottish! I wasn’t expecting that- in fairness I didn’t read the blurb at all before I read the book. What can I say, I live life on the edge! I haven’t read many Scottish romances- maybe three and only one good one. And in none of them, has the heroine been Scottish, so that was fun!

  • The dynamics are: grumpy hero and feisty heroine.

  • I loved with the hero decided to go guns out for the heroine. From the point he realized he was in love with her, and his actions afterwards- great!

what I didn’t like:

  • There is a big plot line with ghosts in the book. Again, I didn’t read the blurb so it could’ve mentioned this. But I wasn’t into that at all. It was too weird for me. And it created too many things going on with the plot. There’s a love story, hidden origins, trying to get a family member out of jail, rival whiskey slinger gangs, revenge and…ghosts. It was a lot.

  • There was a lot of plot that wasn’t a part of the love story. Like… a lot.

3 out of 5 stars
3 out of 5 steam level

At the end of the first book- you get a snippet of the second and it seems SO good. So I’ll definitely continue with the series!
