the wickedness of a highlander by elisa braden (a midnight in scotland book #4)

Thank you Elisa for the Advanced Readers Copy of this book!

It’s no secret that I think EBs books are one of the most slept on historical romances in the world. In my humble and always right opinion (hah!), Elisa Braden’s name should be as much of a household name as Lisa Kleypas. So to say I was excited for this book could be an understatement.

We’ve seen the main characters in the previous books of the Midnight in Scotland series- so we’re no strangers to Sabella or Alexander. So while this is technically a stand alone, and EB explains the backstory- I do feel like it’s best to at the very least, read midnight in scotland #2 before picking this one up. Plus it’s a 5 star, required reading for romance lovers, book for me.

This book brought the steam! I reread books 2&3 of this series this year and already don’t remember their steam level but I feel like this one was 🔥🔥🔥compared to those ones!

I did love Sabella and Alexander- and there were some lines that really stuck with me when it came to the MacPherson men. I especially liked how the men acknowledged that they see a lass and know they want to marry her within minutes. It makes for a really fun dual POV ride throughout the series!

As with the previous books, Mrs Macbean is back to her shenanigans which entails some magical realism.

Overall this book was a hit for me! Though I didn't bond with Sabella and Alexander as much as Broderick and Kate- what can I say, we all have our favorites!

Content warning: suicidal thoughts, physical abuse, kidnapping, rape (mentioned towards the end of the book and not a main plot line)

4 out of 5 stars
