bourbon and proof by victoria wilder (bourbon boys #3)
Ah! It is here! It has arrived!! In all honesty I meant to move this one up my TBR but alas life and summer really had me in my rereading era. But alas I just finished bourbon and proof and I love hanging out with this family.
We’ve glimpsed Hadley and Ace throughout the previous two books and I was so excited to finally get to their epic love story! I didn’t end up vibing with Hadley as much as I did in previous books. I wanted to but I just didn’t, and it felt like most chapters were from her perspective. And hey, we can’t do anything about vibes… they just vibe. (How many times will I use the term vibe in this review? The limit doesn’t exist!)
Something that made this book stand out was that this was a marriage of convenience between two people who decided it was mutually beneficial. It wasn’t a Vegas drunk wedding situation. And I really liked that switch up!
I loved getting into Ace’s head and knowing he’s been obsessed with Hadley forever and she just has no idea. She thinks she’s in an enemies to lovers situation but she isn’t.
favorite quote:
If anyone were to ask me, I don't believe in the stupidity of love at first sight. That's a patriarchal practice that allows women to accept that attraction can be mistaken for love. Love should take time. Learning and longing.
Things to know going in:
This book ended the series in a bit of a mafia vibe vs the classic suspense of the previous novels.
This book features daddy kink. A lot of “yes, daddy”
This is an open door heavy steam novel. 5 out of 5 steam level
This is book three in a series and CAN be read as a stand alone but it’s better read in order.
Overall, Victoria Wilder built a great town that I loved visiting. I loved spending time with the bourbon boys and hey, we’ll always have Fiasco, Kentucky.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy of this book! these opinions are my own :)
